My name is Simon Ellson and I’m the Neighbourhood Policing Inspector for Stroud.
I joined Gloucestershire Police in 2000 , and have always worked in uniform local policing. I started my career in Stroud, and have worked all over the county in various roles including response officer, Custody Sgt, Neighbourhood Sgt in Cheltenham and more recently as Inspector in the Cotswolds. I enjoy the variety of uniform policing, as well as meeting and working with partners from a variety of different organisations
I joined Gloucestershire Constabulary in 2000 and have worked in various ranks and roles across the county including in Response and as a Custody Sergeant in Cheltenham for two years.
I joined Neighbourhood Policing as a Sergeant in Cheltenham in 2016 and was subsequently the Neighbourhood Policing Inspector in the Cotswolds for six years.
I’m really excited to be leading the Neighbourhood Policing Team in Stroud. I was first posted here as a PC 25 years ago so it’s a town I’m familiar with and it’s good to be back.
This is a great area with a strong sense of community spirit and I’m looking forward to building even stronger links between the communities and my team to understand, and act upon, the issues that are affecting them.
Working with our local partners is also an important part of my role and I hope to continue to build on the good relationships we already have in place.
