Community Speed Watch (CSW) is a national initiative. Groups of local volunteers, who work in partnership with police, carry out speed checks at pre-agreed locations within their communities.
In Gloucestershire, the Constabulary sends advisory letters to the owners of vehicles recorded exceeding the speed limit, with the aim of providing driver education and reducing collisions on our roads. The first letter advises the vehicle owner of the speed recorded. The second letter advises that they have been recorded again, and that the Constabulary may take further action.
The below information shows the Community Speed Watch groups that were active in the month shown, the number of letters sent as a result of their activity, and the total number of letters sent for each group in 2024.
