We are looking for individuals with exceptional communication skills and a passion for public service to become Force Control Room (FCR) Call Handlers within Gloucestershire Constabulary.
As a Call Handler, you will be part of an inclusive team of professionals delivering an excellent service to the public.
You will work in an environment which changes from minute-to-minute. No two days will be the same as you ensure that the public feel valued; helping to build confidence in the police service. You will be dealing with emergency and non-emergency contact via a variety of channels.
Often callers can be distressed and in a time critical situation. You will need to take control, gain relevant information and make dynamic decisions whilst being empathetic, compassionate and supportive.
Successful candidates will be working a full time shift pattern. All shift patterns will be working 24/7 and includes bank holidays and weekends.
Full-time FCR Call Handlers receive an average 34.32% shift allowance on top of their basic full time salary of £27,204 - £29,859. Shift allowance commences after the completion of the initial training course when the successful applicants start working the 24/7 shift pattern.

Please note that successful candidates will be required to attend a 7 week training programme at either of our training venues, the Sabrina Centre in Berkeley or our Force Control Room training room in Quedgeley, to equip them with all of the skills they'll need for the role. Training will be full time Monday to Friday.
There is currently only one shift pattern available as a Gloucestershire Constabulary Call Handler, which is our full time pattern. All shift patterns work a 24/7 rota and this includes bank holidays and weekends.
