Witness appeal after man made inappropriate comments towards teenage girls in Gloucester

A man has been arrested after it was reported he made inappropriate and sexualised comments towards teenage girls in Gloucester.

Police are now appealing for witnesses to the incident which happened at Gloucester Transport Hub at around 5.10pm on Tuesday 8 September.

It was reported that an unknown man, who was stood in the doorway of the toilets, had approached two teenage girls and made inappropriate comments which were sexual in nature.

The girls were left shaken by what had happened and contacted police.

Officers conducted CCTV enquiries in the area and a 36-year-old man from Gloucester was arrested on suspicion of using threatening, abusive or insulting words to cause harassment, alarm or distress.

This is a public order offence which is usually motivated by the victim’s sex or presumed sex.

The man has since been released on bail with conditions not to enter Gloucester Transport Hub whilst enquiries continue.

Investigating officers are now asking anyone who was in the area and saw what happened to make contact.
