CCTV appeal following suspected arson in Cheltenham

An arson investigation is underway after two commercial units in Cheltenham were damaged by fire last week.

Police have now released a CCTV image of a man they would like to speak to in connection with the incident.

Officers were called by Gloucestershire Fire and Rescue Service at around 9.20pm on Tuesday 15 September with a report of a fire at Kingsditch Trade Park on Upperfield Road.

Fire crews extinguished the blaze, which they believe had been started deliberately in a large bin and placed against two commercial units.

Fire damage was caused to both buildings, but no injuries were reported.

A man was seen leaving the scene at around the time of the incident and earlier that evening, between 6.15pm and 6.30pm, a man was seen on CCTV acting suspiciously near the units.

It is also believed the man may have entered other premises on the trading park earlier that day. 

Officers are yet to identify the man pictured and are now asking for information from the public and people who work on the trading estate.

The man is described as being white and balding with brown hair. He was wearing a bright blue coat, black tracksuit bottoms and carrying a large rucksack and carrier bags.
