Appeal for witnesses after man racially abused group at Stroud park

Police are appealing for witnesses after a man racially abused a group of people in Stroud earlier this month.

It was reported that a man approached a group of people who were at the park and shouted racist remarks at them before ripping down flags and throwing placards.

The incident took place during an event at Bank Gardens on the afternoon of Saturday 5 September.

The man was described as being white, wearing a grey hoody, had a beard and short balding hair.

A man aged in his 30s and from Cam was arrested on suspicion of racially aggravated public order and being drunk and disorderly in connection with the incident.

He was later released on police bail with conditions pending further enquiries.

Following the arrest, investigating officers are keen to hear from anyone who was in the park at the time and witnessed what happened.
