Police have arrested two teenage boys in connection with an assault in Gloucester city centre last night (Friday 23 October).
Investigating officers are now appealing for witnesses after two men were assaulted on Eastgate Street at around 11.35pm.
Officers were called to a report that an altercation had broken out between four males close to the bus stop next to Holloway House.
It was reported that two men had stepped in after hearing an argument and physical altercation with another man and woman. This has led to another altercation resulting in one of the men receiving a serious facial injury.
The boys then left the scene. Two teenage boys, one aged 16 and from Cheltenham and the other aged 17 and from Gloucester, were arrested a short time later near Gloucester Cathedral on suspicion of assault occasioning grievous bodily harm.
They remain in custody at this time while enquiries continue.
One of the victims, a man in his 40s, was treated at the scene while the other, a man in his 30s, was taken to Gloucestershire Royal Hospital where he received treatment for his injuries.
Officers have been reviewing CCTV and are now keen to speak to anyone in the area at the time who may have witnessed the events leading up to the incident, been assaulted but not reported it to police, or have seen the incident itself.
