Man arrested on suspicion of exposure after incident in Gloucester city centre

A man was arrested on suspicion of exposure following an incident in Gloucester city centre on Monday morning (5 October) and officers are appealing for witnesses.

At around 5am, police were called with a report that a man was running naked in the street and was behaving erratically.

The caller said the man then put a pair of jeans on and took them off again, and that this happened in Clarence Street.

Officers attended and it was suspected that the man may have been under the influence of drugs.

It is understood that at one point the man approached members of the public and tried to hug or touch them and walked in front of traffic. He was also seen by a bus stop on Clarence Street, near to King's Walk shopping centre.

A man aged in his 40s was subsequently arrested and he has since been released on bail with conditions while an investigation continues.

CCTV in the area has been reviewed, and police would now like to speak to anyone who witnessed what happened or anyone who was approached by a man in the area on Monday morning.
