Police have arrested a man on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm following an incident in Cirencester yesterday evening (Thursday 18 June).
Officers were called to a report of a serious assault on Reeves Close at around 6.20pm.
Two men, who are believed to be known to each other, were said to have been arguing before one of the men was said to have attacked the other man, knocking him to the floor and further assaulting him.
He then fled the scene before officers arrived, but was later located and arrested.
A man in his 20s remains in a critical condition at Southmead Hospital.
Officers conducted house-to-house enquiries and remain at the scene.
A 21-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm and remains in police custody at this time. Enquiries are continuing.
