A man has died following a two-vehicle collision in the Cotswolds yesterday (Tuesday 24 February).
Emergency services were called to the A40 near Dowdeswell at around 3.40pm following a report of a collision involving a Mini Cooper and a BMW 5 Series.
The driver of the BMW, a man aged in his 40s, sustained serious injuries and despite the best efforts of a member of the public and paramedics, he was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.
His next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specially trained officers.
The driver of the Mini, a woman in her 50s, was taken to Southmead Hospital in Bristol by air ambulance where she remains in a serious condition.
Several road closures were put into place while a collision investigation took place, which have since been lifted.
Anyone who witnessed the collision and has not already spoken to police, or anyone who has dashcam footage of either vehicle prior to the collision, is asked to provide information to officers online by completing the following form and quoting incident 306 of 24 February: https://www.gloucestershire.police.uk/tua/tell-us-about/cor/tell-us-about-existing-case-report/
