Additional men sentenced following violent assault in Coleford last year (2025)

Three more men have been sentenced for their part in a violent targeted attack on the president of a rival motorcycle group in Coleford last year.

The men, who are all members of the Rock Machine Motorcycle Club, appeared at Bristol Crown Court for sentencing yesterday (Wednesday 5 August) and received the below sentences for violent disorder:

  • Joshua Bell, aged 32 and of Gloucester - one year and five months
  • Mark Gibson, aged 56 and of Knutsford - two years, suspended for two years
  • Paul Price, aged 57 and of Newport - one year and two months, suspended for two years

Luke Cole, aged 30 and of Gloucester, is due to be sentenced for his involvement on 2 September.

Cole, Bell and Price had pleaded guilty at an earlier hearing to violent disorder, and Gibson was found guilty of the charge following a trial.

The court previously heard how police were called to Market Place in Coleford at 2.30pm on Saturday 5 April 2025 with a report that a group had assaulted a man outside a pub.

A number of men exited several vehicles before attacking another man with metal poles and driving away in a convoy.

The victim, a man aged in his 60s, was taken to hospital for treatment to serious injuries, which included a brain bleed and fractured jaw.

His partner was also attacked during the assault and sustained injuries.

Officers from the Constabulary's Criminal Investigation Department began an investigation into the incident and quickly established that CCTV footage had captured the assault taking place, however significant enquiries were required to identify those involved.

As a result of this, a total of 11 men were identified, arrested and charged in connection with the incident. Ten of those either admitted to or were found guilty of offences, while one man was found not guilty.

After the sentencing, Acting Detective Sergeant Robert Humphreys said: "This was a targeted and violent attack carried out in the street in the middle of the day, while members of the public watched on in shock.

"Those involved showed a blatant disregard for the consequences of their actions and instead wanted to assert their dominance over a rival motorcycle gang.

"Violence of this nature will not be tolerated in Gloucestershire, and I'm pleased that following our thorough investigation, several men have been sentenced for their part in what happened that day."

Lee Rogers, Billy Timmins, Robert Greenacre, Kyle Matthews, Darren Rimmer and Ashley Lauterdale were all sentenced to a combined total of 27 years and two months’ imprisonment following a hearing at Bristol Crown Court on 19 June.

Rogers, Timmins and Greenacre pleaded guilty to section 18 wounding with intent and violent disorder on the first day of a trial which took place in February.

During that trial a jury found Matthews, Rimmer and Lauterdale guilty of section 18 wounding with intent and violent disorder.

Lauterdale was also found guilty of section 47 assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
