Two men have been arrested in connection with the theft of cooking oil from a restaurant in Cheltenham.
Police received reports that thieves had stolen the containers from an address in The Promenade in the early hours of this morning (Friday 23 December). A second address in the town also reported an attempted theft.
A vehicle carrying containers of cooking oil was later stopped by police in Lansdowne Road. The men, aged 35 and 43, were arrested on suspicion of theft. They currently remain in police custody.
Officers are now asking restaurant owners to check their oil stock to see if any has been stolen.
Oil containers can be marked with a tag or writing, helping police to identify them if they are stolen and later recovered.
Anyone who believes they may have been the victim of cooking oil theft is asked to contact Gloucestershire Constabulary through the website, quoting incident 53 of 23 December: https://www.gloucestershire.police.uk/ro/report/ocr/af/how-to-report-a-crime/
