Three men have been arrested in connection with an alleged unprovoked attack on a man in Gloucester city centre earlier this week.
The incident happened in St Aldate Street at around 12.30am on Sunday (8 January).
A man in his 60s was approached by three men who proceeded to kick and punch him in what is understood to be an unprovoked attack.
The man was left with serious injuries, including multiple fractures to his face, a black eye, cuts to his nose and forehead, and a broken ankle, which required surgery.
Officers attended and two men were arrested. Following further investigation work alongside CCTV operators in the Force Control Room, a third man was arrested later that day.
The three men, two from Dursley aged 18 and 19, and a 19-year-old from Chippenham, were arrested on suspicion of assault occasioning grievous bodily harm. They have been released on police bail while enquiries continue.
At the time of the incident the area was busy with people around, and anyone with information about the incident and who has not already spoken to officers is asked to contact police through the website, quoting incident 9 of 8 January: https://www.gloucestershire.police.uk/contact/af/contact-us/us/a-crime-that-has-already-been-reported/
