Update- a man was taken to Gloucestershire Royal Hospital for treatment to a leg injury following a collision between a motorcyclist and van on the M5 yesterday afternoon (Friday 22 September).
The carriageway reopened shortly before 7pm and officers would like to thank those caught up in traffic for their co-operation.
Police are at the scene of a serious collision on the northbound carriageway of the M5 this afternoon (Friday 22 September).
Emergency services were called shortly after 5.20pm with a report of a collision between two vehicles just prior to junction 9 for Tewkesbury.
A closure has been put into place from junction 11 for Cheltenham/Gloucester through to junction 9 at Tewkesbury while emergency services remain at the scene.
This is expected to remain in place for a number of hours with motorists asked to plan their route in advance and avoid the area.
