Man who died after being found in car park of Stroud supermarket named

A man who died after being found unresponsive in the car park of a supermarket in Stroud at the weekend has been named as 63-year-old Neil Shadwick.

Following formal identification today (Thursday 26 January), Neil’s children and siblings said: “We’re grieving for the death of our father and brother and would ask that our privacy is respected at this difficult time.”

Yesterday (Wednesday 25 January), a post-mortem examination returned inconclusive results about Neil's cause of death following an incident in Stroud over the weekend.

Police were called shortly before 6am on Sunday 22 January after Neil was found unresponsive in the car park of Tesco superstore on Stratford Road.

He was subsequently taken to Gloucestershire Royal Hospital by paramedics and died later that day.

Further testing will now be carried out to determine Neil's cause of death and a police investigation is ongoing.

A 40-year-old woman who had been arrested in connection with the Neil’s death is now on police bail.
