Officers are asking for anyone who has found a discarded black bag in Cheltenham to make contact with police.
A home was burgled in Sherborne Street at some point between 11.30pm on Thursday and 8.15am the following day and a bag was taken.
The unknown offender stole the rucksack style bag, which contained a turquoise purse, a passport and bank cards, which were subsequently used in local shops.
CCTV enquiries show the suspect, who is a tall white man, no longer had the bag when he was in the shops, and he may have discarded it somewhere in the local area.
He had been travelling on a bicycle and may have hopped fences in the area and therefore police are asking people to check for the discarded items in their garden. The victim is keen to get her passport and purse back.
If you have found the items discarded, please contact police by completing the following online form and quoting incident 108 of 22 December: https://www.gloucestershire.police.uk/tua/tell-us-about/cor/tell-us-about-existing-case-report/
