A motorcyclist has died following a collision near South Cerney yesterday evening (Thursday 2 September).
A motorcycle was involved in a collision with a heavy piece of plant machinery on Spine Road East, at the junction with Cerney Wick Quarry at 4.20pm.
The rider of the motorcycle, aged 51, sustained fatal injuries and he was pronounced dead at the scene. The next of kin and the coroner have been informed.
The driver of the plant machinery is believed to be uninjured. The road remained closed for a number of hours but has now reopened.
Police are continuing to investigate the circumstances of the collision and are appealing for witnesses to come forward.
Officers would like to hear from anyone who has not already spoken to them and who may have witnessed the collision or the motorcycle involved prior to the collision.
They would also like to speak to anyone who may have dashcam footage of the collision or any footage that they may feel might be relevant.
