Police are continuing to explore all lines of enquiry following reports of a serious wounding in Gloucester on Sunday (2 August).
Emergency services were called to Salisbury Road following reports that a man had been stabbed and suffered serious injuries.
He remains in hospital today, Monday 3 August.
Cordons and road closures remain in place at the scene whilst officers conduct further enquiries.
Detective Inspector Paula Hannaford said: "We are treating this as a serious incident and are following up all lines of enquiry at this stage.
"We are looking into whether a car fire later that day in Abbeymead is linked to the stabbing and are appealing for people to come forward with information.
"We would like to speak to anybody who can provide us with any information, no matter how small they believe it might be.
"I would urge them to get in touch as it could help as we piece together what has happened."
Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call police on 101, quoting incident 350 of 2 August or through Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or via www.crimestoppers-uk.org.
