At 1.20pm yesterday (Wednesday 26 August), emergency services were called with a report that a glider had come down in Charlton Kings playing fields, Cheltenham.
Upon attendance it was found that two men were flying in the area when their glider lost control and crashed.
A man aged in his 90s was pronounced dead at the scene next of kin has been informed.
Another man, who was also in the glider, has been taken to Southmead Hospital in Bristol for treatment and his relatives are aware.
The investigation has been handed to the Civil Aviation Authority. No further information is available at this time.
