Family pays tribute to 15-year-old killed in collision

Family members have paid tribute to Anthony Springett, who was killed in a collision in Gloucester last month.

The 15-year-old, who was from Stonehouse, was just a day away from his 16th birthday when he died in a collision involving a Toyota Rav-4 and an Iveco drop side lorry on Metz Way on Thursday 27 August.

Anthony had been in the Toyota Rav-4 and suffered serious injuries in the collision and was taken to Bristol Children’s hospital. He died two days later (Saturday 29 August).

Anthony, who was profoundly deaf and had a number of other challenges, was a pupil at The Shrubberies School in Stonehouse.

His family said that he would be fondly remembered by everybody who knew him, not least for the way in which he dealt with his own disabilities.

They said: “Despite the many challenges that Anthony had to overcome in his short life, he still maintained a smile, a wonderful sense of humour and in his free time he loved to blow bubbles.

“Everyone who crossed his path was left with a memory that they will always remember him by.”
