A warrant of further detention has been granted today (Friday 14 October) for a 55-year-old man arrested on suspicion of rape.
Police have been given more time to continue questioning the man. The custody extension will come to an end in the early hours of tomorrow morning.
The 55-year-old man was arrested yesterday after police responded to a report that he had raped a woman in a hotel room in Woodchester. He originally gave his address as Dursley but this is now believed to have been false.
Officers would now like to hear from anyone with additional information which could help the investigation.
Rape and Serious Sexual Offences Detective Sergeant Faye Satchwell-Bennett said: "We are now appealing for anyone with information to please come forward, or alternatively speak to our partnership agency the Nelson Trust in Stroud or Gloucester.”
Anybody with information can contact Gloucestershire Constabulary through the website, quoting incident 168 of 13 October: https://www.gloucestershire.police.uk/contact/af/contact-us/us/a-crime-that-has-already-been-reported/
