Police have arrested a man in connection with an attempted theft from an ATM in Cheltenham in the early hours of yesterday morning, Thursday 7 September.
It followed a hunt of the area by officers after a report that an attempt was being made to break into the machine at around 1.15am.
A member of the public called to say they could see a group of three men attempting to steal from an ATM in Hewlett Road by using tools to break it open.
The group drove off in a blue BMW before police could arrive and the vehicle was later found abandoned.
Officers were joined by colleagues from the National Police Air Service to search the area and a 37-year-old man from Birmingham was located and arrested on suspicion of attempted burglary. He has since been bailed pending further enquiries.
Officers are appealing for anyone with information about the attempted theft to contact Gloucestershire Constabulary through the website, quoting incident 28 of 7 September: https://www.gloucestershire.police.uk/contact/af/contact-us/us/a-crime-that-has-already-been-reported/
