Police are appealing for witnesses following reports that a woman was subjected to racial abuse in Bishops Cleeve on Saturday (11 July).
The victim had been standing at a checkout in Lidl at around 8.05pm when a man began making abusive comments towards her following a conversation.
She left the store and was loading her shopping into her car when the suspect followed her into the car park and made further racist and abusive comments towards her.
Officers would like to speak to two men who came to the woman's aid in the car park.
The suspect is described as white, aged between 60 – 70, dressed smartly in a light coloured polo top and trousers. He walked off in the direction of the community centre.
Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact Gloucestershire Constabulary on 101, quoting incident 457 of 11 July.
