Witnesses and footage sought following Cheltenham assault

We’re appealing for witnesses and footage after a man assaulted a woman in Cheltenham on Friday (21 August).

A man was restrained by members of the public after being seen to grab a woman by the throat and verbally abuse her near Queens Hotel, on The Promenade, between 4.30pm and 5pm.

A man in his 50s was subsequently arrested on suspicion of common assault and has since been released on conditional bail while further enquiries take place.

Officers investigating the incident understand it may have been filmed by members of the public and are asking anyone who saw what happened, or has footage of it, to contact them.
