Police are investigating a report that two men who were in a car followed a child who was walking in Gloucester yesterday evening (Wednesday 19 March).
It was reported that an 11-year-old girl was walking along Seymour Road at around 7pm when she noticed a dark coloured car that was being driven slowly, following her.
The girl went into a nearby shop so that she could ask for help and one of the men got out of the car and followed her inside before leaving a short time later.
Officers have been conducting CCTV enquiries in the area as well as speaking to those who were in the shop when the girl entered.
Inspector Ash Gardner from the Gloucester Neighbourhood Policing Team said: "We are aware of concerns shared online about this incident which is why I wanted to reassure the local community that we are taking this report seriously and investigating what happened.
"We would like to remind parents, carers and children to be vigilant and immediately report any incidents of being followed or approached by strangers."
Anyone with information about the incident or who has dashcam or CCTV footage which they feel may be relevant is asked to make contact.
