A man has been arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving and driving while under the influence of drugs after a police pursuit in the early hours.
Shortly after 1.30am today (Thursday 6 February) a report was made to police about a motorist in Cheltenham who was suspected of driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
Officers responded and located a vehicle on the A40, however, the driver did not stop for police and drove at speeds of more than 100mph while attempting to evade officers.
The vehicle was driven onto the A48 and through the Forest of Dean while being pursued by Gloucestershire officers on the ground and with support from the National Police Air Service and Gwent Police.
A stinger device was used and the vehicle was stopped in the centre of Coleford.
A 21-year-old man from the Forest of Dean was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving, driving while under the influence of drugs and failing to stop. He has since been released on bail while officers await drug testing analysis and review the evidence obtained.
