Closure order granted for property in Gloucester

A three-month closure order has been granted for a property in Gloucester following reports that people were engaging in Anti-Social Behaviour.

The partial closure order was successfully secured for the property in the King’s Quarter development area to help protect residents in the local community.

The order, which was secured by the Gloucester Neighbourhood Policing Team with support from Solace and Gloucester City Homes, prevents anyone except from certain named individuals and agencies from entering the property.

Failure to comply with the order is a criminal offence which could result in imprisonment for up to three months, a fine, or both.

The partial closure order was granted at Cheltenham Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday (26 November) and remains in place for three months.

Solace's Anti-Social Behaviour case officer Joe Mullis said: “We are very pleased to have successfully gained this closure order in partnership with Gloucestershire Constabulary and Gloucester City Homes.

“The decision to seek a closure order is something which is not made lightly, however, there can be no excuse for such behaviour which has blighted the current occupier and neighbouring residents.

“Anti-Social Behaviour is an extremely emotive issue that can have serious detrimental and long-lasting effects on both individuals and communities.

“By tackling these issues, Solace has clearly demonstrated that it will not hesitate to take action against those who make other people's lives a misery.”

Sergeant Andrew Doyle from the Barton and Tredworth Neighbourhood Policing Team added: "This closure order represents a positive result for the local community and is tangible evidence of the hard work and time invested by our neighbourhood police teams and partner agencies.

"We will continue to safeguard vulnerable people and target offenders in our communities."
