Police are appealing for the victim of an assault in Cheltenham on Monday morning (28 October) to come forward.
An off-duty police officer reported that a man had punched another man in the face while on the High Street at around 7.50am.
Attending officers searched the area but the victim, who was described as being an Asian man, could not be located and his identity is currently unknown.
A 46-year-old man from Gloucester was located nearby and arrested on suspicion of assault by beating. He has since been released under investigation pending further enquiries.
Officers are now working to identify the victim to check his welfare and find out what happened.
Investigating officers are asking the victim, or anyone who knows him, to come forward so that the investigation can progress.
