A suspected burglar has been arrested after officers responded to a report of a break-in at an address near Cheltenham town centre last night (Tuesday 5 November).
At around 8pm a man called police to say he could see on his CCTV that someone was breaking into his home while he was not there.
Officers quickly attended, along with the support of a police drone, and put on a containment of the area to block off any escape routes as the offender was inside the address.
He then moved onto the roof and initially refused to come down. He eventually did around 20 minutes later and was subsequently arrested.
A 59-year-old man remains in custody on suspicion of burglary and enquiries are ongoing. Suspected stolen items, including a Rolex watch, jewellery and other items, have also been recovered.
As the winter months approach and the nights get darker earlier, officers would like to remind residents of the protective measures that can be taken to help ensure homes and outbuildings are as safe as possible.
