Man dies following two-vehicle collision on the A40

A man has died following a two-vehicle collision on the A40 between Andoversford and Dowdeswell yesterday afternoon (Monday 27 May).

Emergency services were called just before 2pm to the collision which involved a black Range Rover and a grey Land Rover Discovery.

The driver of the Range Rover, a 31-year-old man from Cirencester, was pronounced dead at the scene. His next of kin has been informed.

The passenger, a woman in her 20s, was taken to Gloucestershire Royal Hospital to be treated for facial injuries and has since been discharged.

A man in his 50s, who was driving the Land Rover, sustained life-threatening injuries in the collision and was taken to Southmead Hospital in Bristol where he remains in a critical condition.

Road closures, which were put in place on the A40 while officers investigated the scene, have now been lifted and the road has reopened.

Police are continuing to investigate the circumstances of the collision and are keen to speak to the driver of a blue Mercedes who may have witnessed the vehicles involved immediately prior to the incident.
