A teenage boy was arrested on suspicion of robbery earlier this week after being identified by an officer from the Cheltenham Neighbourhood Policing Team.
It had been reported that a teenage girl was walking along the High Street on Tuesday 11 June when she was followed by an unknown male who then threatened her and stole her bicycle.
An officer began conducting enquiries into the incident, including extensive CCTV reviews, but the offender could not be identified.
However on Tuesday (25 June), neighbourhood officers who were on proactive patrol, spotted a male who was in possession of an identical bag to the one being worn by the offender in CCTV footage.
A 15-year-old boy was subsequently arrested on suspicion of robbery in connection with the incident.
Searches were conducted at various addresses linked to the boy and the victim’s bike, worth £1000, was recovered and returned to one very happy owner.
The teen has been released on bail while officers seek charging advice from the Crown Prosecution Service.
