Businesses targeted by thieves in Cheltenham

Police are warning businesses in Cheltenham and their employees to be vigilant after a number of burglaries last week.

At least three organisations in the town centre were targeted in the early hours of Thursday 15 and Friday 16 February.

Officers are now looking at whether the incidents are linked. They would also like to hear from any other businesses which believe they may have been targeted.

The first two incidents happened on High Street last Thursday (15 February). In one incident, the lock was broken on the front door and £100 was stolen from a till, while thieves broke in through the rear of a second property. It is not known if anything was taken.

A property in Queens Road was broken into last Friday (16 February) at around 5.20am, and £800 was stolen from a safe.

There are a number of ways that businesses can help make their property more secure and help deter burglars.

One example is making sure that CCTV is fully operational, keeping cash off the premises and, where possible, keeping stock out of sight.
