Two men have been arrested and police are searching for a third after a car was driven through Pittville Park in Cheltenham earlier today, Monday 26 August.
Investigating officers are keen to hear from anyone who saw what happened or who has footage of the incident as the park was busy at the time.
While PCs Jones and Spiers were on foot patrol at around 3pm, they spotted a vehicle which was showing as having no insurance, and there were suspicions it had been used in crime.
Colleagues in the roads policing unit then attempted to pull over the motorist, who did not stop, and so police pursued it.
The motorist then drove the vehicle onto Pittville Park and due to safety concerns, the vehicle pursuit was aborted.
The three occupants of the vehicle then decamped and officers chased after them.
One was detained and two others ran in the direction of Wellington Square park. A second man was soon arrested, however a third is outstanding.
The vehicle, which is suspected to have been stolen, has been seized.
A 19-year-old man from Cheltenham has been arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving, theft of a vehicle and driving a vehicle while under the influence of drugs.
A 22-year-old man from Cheltenham has been arrested on suspicion of theft of a vehicle and the supply of class A drugs. They both remain in custody for questioning.
Anyone who has footage of the incident, or who has any information which could assist the investigation, is asked to provide this to police online by completing the following form and quoting incident 253 of 26 August: https://www.gloucestershire.police.uk/tua/tell-us-about/cor/tell-us-about-existing-case-report/
