A custody extension has been granted by Cheltenham magistrates for a man arrested on suspicion of murder on Saturday, 31 August.
Emergency services were called to a report of a woman who had been seriously injured at a property on Fairfield Road at around 3.30am.
Officers remain at the address and specialist officers are providing support to the family.
A 77-year-old man from Cheltenham was arrested on suspicion of murder. Detectives have now been given until this afternoon (Monday 2 September) to continue questioning him in connection with the incident.
The Major Crime Investigation Team is continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident and are asking anyone with information which could assist to make contact.
