Child Sex Offender Disclosure Scheme (Sarah’s Law)

If you want to find out whether someone in contact with your child is a registered sex offender, you can request this information from the police.

The right is available under the Child Sex Offender Disclosure Scheme, also known as Sarah’s Law.

The scheme was developed nationally in consultation with Sara Payne, whose eight-year-old daughter Sarah was murdered by a convicted paedophile Roy Whiting.

Any parent, guardian or carer can apply to find out if there is information which they need to know about in order to protect a child or children in their care.

For more details about Sarah's Law, or if you want to make an application, please visit our dedicated page in our Do-it-Online section.
