Moped security

Mopeds and motorcycles should always be stored in a safe and secure location. Using good quality security equipment will help keep your vehicle safe. A useful website to visit for more information is: http://securityforbikes.com/motorcycle-security-advice.php.

When it comes to securing your moped or motorcycle it is recommended that you should spend at least 10% of the purchase cost on security products to protect it. Lock your bike with a good quality chain and padlock or with a D-Lock and secure it to a ground anchor set in concrete at home.

When you are away from your home chain it to a large, fixed object with a good quality chain and lock or with a D-Lock, as above. Securing your vehicle to a fixed point should deter potential criminals from lifting your vehicle into a van and driving away to be attacked at the thief's leisure.

You can also add a tracking device to you moped. Many of these devices range in price from £40 to £200. A SIM card is often also needed for them to work.

If your moped is stolen:

If your moped is stolen report it immediately to the police by calling 101. Be ready (if you know) to give a description of the person/persons who stole it, the direction it was last seen going in and anything such as marks or stickers that will help us identify the moped more easily.
