A prolific offender has been jailed for 24 weeks after being caught on CCTV stealing a laptop from a Gloucester school.
Wayne Taylor, aged 45, and of no fixed abode, was handed the prison sentence at Worle Magistrates Court last Wednesday (6 October).
Taylor had been caught on CCTV entering the changing rooms at King’s School in Pitt Street, Gloucester, on Wednesday 22 September. He had grabbed a Macbook, worth £1,000, from a bag before leaving.
Taylor, who was on bail at the time of the offence, was given an immediate custodial sentence due to his record of previous crimes. He was also ordered to pay compensation to his victim of £1,200.
Sgt Andy Doyle said: “This is a great result from the Gloucester City Neighbourhood Team that sees one of our prolific offenders put out of action for a while and gives the community some respite from his offending.”
