Police are asking for people who were in a Gloucester pub on Saturday evening and saw an altercation to come forward after a woman was injured.
The incident happened at Northend Vaults on Northgate Street at around 7.50pm, and it was reported that a man had bitten off part of a woman’s finger.
The woman, in her 50s and from Gloucester, has since had surgery.
It is understood she had been in the rear outdoor area of the pub on Saturday 15 October when a verbal disagreement started between two separate groups. This then escalated into a physical altercation.
A man in his 50s and from Gloucester also sustained facial injuries during the incident, and he did not require medical treatment.
Following enquiries a 24-year-old man from Bristol was arrested on suspicion of assault. He was subsequently released under investigation while enquiries continue.
Investigating officers are now keen to hear from anyone who was at Northend Vaults and saw what happened. They would also ask anyone who may have information which could assist police to come forward.
It is thought that some people who were there were from Bristol for the rugby match at Kingsholm Stadium between Gloucester Rugby and Bristol Bears, and police are keen to hear from them too.
