Officers investigating an assault outside a pub in Whitminster are renewing their appeal for witnesses.
Police were called to the war memorial area of The Close on Bristol Road at around 8.30pm on Tuesday 25 April with a report that a man had been assaulted.
It was reported that the victim, a man in his 50s, had been assaulted by a group of people who had been in The Whitminster pub beforehand.
He sustained a badly broken ankle which required surgery at Southmead Hospital in Bristol.
Officers arrested two men and a woman in connection with the incident however they were released without charge following extensive enquiries.
As a result of this, work is now ongoing to identify anyone who may have been involved in the assault or witnessed what happened.
Officers are also asking anyone with mobile phone, dashcam or CCTV footage which they feel is relevant to make contact.
DC Annabel Brittain said: "A really serious, potentially life-changing injury was suffered during this attack on the war memorial green in Whitminster.
"If you have any information which could help determine what happened and ensure offenders are brought to justice for this, please do contact me as soon as possible."
