Following the proclamation of His Majesty King Charles III, Chief Constable Rod Hansen and newly appointed Deputy Chief Constable Shaun West pledged their allegiance to the King this morning on behalf of all officers and staff at Gloucestershire Constabulary.
The pledge of allegiance to the King was in accordance with the oath officers took at their attestation. There is no legal requirement for existing Gloucestershire Constabulary police officers to undertake a re-attestation. However, given both His Majesty and Princess Anne have Royal Gloucestershire residences, we feel that it is fitting to re-attest our continued allegiance and pledge to serve His Majesty The King.
The ceremony, which took place at our HQ in Quedgeley, was attended by Magistrate Julia M Hurrell BEM and High Sheriff Sir Dusty Miller KBE, who were also joined by Police and Crime Commissioner Chris Nelson and Deputy Police and Crime Commissioner Nick Evans.
