Police are appealing for the victim of an assault to come forward after witnesses reported seeing a man being attacked.
The incident happened in Whitfield Street, Gloucester, at around 10.45pm on Saturday 28 August.
A group of men were reported being seen assaulting a man who was on the floor.
A member of the public separated the males and an unknown person has been seen to stagger away.
The member of public has then been assaulted by all three males as he walks away, leaving with cuts and bruising which needed hospital treatment.
After following a number of enquiries, officers are now appealing for the unknown person who was initially assaulted to contact them. They would also like any witnesses who have not already come forward to contact them.
Three men, aged 21, 22 and 23, and all from Gloucestershire, have been arrested and released under investigation.
