Police are investigating a report that a man was seen committing a lewd act near a canal in Stonehouse in May.
A member of the public saw what appeared to have been a man lying on the floor masturbating by the side of the water between Bond's Mill estate on Bristol Road and Stonehouse Court.
The caller stated that the man walked off in the direction of St Cyr's Church after committing the act.
This was reported as taking place between 4.30pm and 4.45pm on Sunday 22 May and was reported to police the following day.
The man was described as being white, of an average build and in his fifties.
He had short grey hair, was wearing blue jeans and a grey jacket and carrying a blue carrier bag
A number of people were in the area at the time and officers are asking anyone who has information or could help identify the man to please make contact.
