Officers are appealing for information after an attempt was made to set a house alight in Tuffley yesterday, Thursday 5 August.
Police attended Holst Way at 12.55am after it was reported that an unknown suspect had thrown a bottle containing flammable liquid and a lit piece of material at the property.
This took place at around 12.20am with the victim putting out the fire to her porch roof before calling police. No-one was injured as a result of the incident.
CCTV and house to house enquiries have now taken place and officers are working to identify a red vehicle which was seen in the area.
Officers from the Criminal Investigation Department believe that this was a case of mistaken identity and are appealing for anyone with information to please get in contact.
