In the early hours of this morning (Thursday 6 February) police officers came across a fire at Beeches Playing Field off Sappercombe Lane in Charlton Kings, Cheltenham.
At around 3.40am officers saw smoke and found a wheelbarrow which contained a hay bale was alight. The fire had spread to the building, causing extensive damage.
Gloucestershire Fire and Rescue Service were called and sent two fire engines. The blaze was extinguished by 6am.
Police are treating the incident as suspected arson and are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.
Anyone with information about the incident or anyone who lives in the surrounding area and may have relevant CCTV footage from the early hours of this morning is asked to call 101 and quote incident 26 of 6 February.
