Man charged with two counts of rape due in court

A man is due to appear in court on Monday (10 March) charged with multiple offences against a woman which include two counts of rape and non-fatal strangulation.

Rafal Adam Bazmierowski, aged 36 and of Green Lane, Peterstone Wentlooge, Cardiff has been remanded in custody and is due to appear at Gloucester Crown Court.

Following an investigation by Gloucestershire Police's Rape and Serious Sexual Offences team, the Crown Prosecution Service authorised charges which relate to an incident on 3 February this year (2025).

Bazmierowski has been charged with:

• Two counts of rape
• False imprisonment
• Non-fatal strangulation
• Theft

The offences are alleged to have happened in the Painswick area of Stroud and were committed against a woman whom he did not know.
