A police operation in Gloucester city centre on Saturday night (29 March) has resulted in officers seizing drugs and making arrests.
Extra officers took to the streets in the city centre and the Docks as part of Operation Comet.
The operation aims to tackle offending in the night-time economy to help people remain safe as they enjoy a night out.
During the evening, a 29-year-old man from Gloucester was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply a Class B drug. He was released under investigation.
A second person was arrested on suspicion of driving while over the limit for alcohol, while a driver was fined for using a mobile phone while driving and three community resolutions were handed out for possession of cannabis.
Officers also seized cannabis, Class A drugs and nitrous oxide canisters, along with a vehicle suspected of being used in criminal activity.
A total of 12 vehicles and 14 individuals were stopped during the operation.
Op Comet looks to prevent youth crime, anti-social behaviour, violence against women and girls, and the use and sale of drugs during the night-time economy.
Officers are working alongside other organisations, including Night Angels, Street Pastors, Night Safe officers, street medics and the licensed premises.
Sergeant Oliver Padfield, of the Neighbourhood Policing Team, said the operation provided a good opportunity to engage with members of the public during one of the busiest times of the week.
He said: “Our officers had a huge amount of positive engagement from the public and door staff on Saturday night. As a result of being out, we have been able to build on good relationships with those involved in the night-time economy.
“Our aim was to discourage people intent on committing offences from coming into Gloucester and I believe that our presence this weekend has done just that.
“People were pleased to see us and we feel our presence gave a strong reassurance to everyone out in Gloucester.”
