Gloucestershire Constabulary is investigating a collision in which a woman suffered serious injuries.

The collision happened at about 8.25 pm yesterday, Monday 30 October on the B4077 Stow Road, near Alstone Fields, approximately half way between the Teddington Hands roundabout and Ye Olde Hobnails Inn.

It involved a silver Audi A3 car, travelling away from the Teddington Hands roundabout towards Stow, which left the road and collided with a tree.

The driver, a 25 year old local woman, sustained serious head injuries and was taken to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Birmingham where her condition is said to be critical.

There was no-one else in the car.

Officers investigating the incident would like to hear from any witnesses that they have not yet spoken to,  or anybody who may have seen the vehicle prior to the collision or who may have dash-cam footage.

The road was closed for six hours following the collision to allow officers from the Tri-Force Specialist Operations Collaboration to conduct a thorough examination of the scene.

Anybody with relevant information is asked to call Gloucestershire Constabulary on 101, or email 101@gloucestershire.police.uk, quoting incident 441 of 30/10.
