Gloucestershire Constabulary are appealing for witnesses of an assault in Stroud on Sunday (8 October).

At approximately 2am, a 59-year-old man was attacked by a group of men near Waitrose in Stroud.

The incident happened on the footpath at the junction of Castle Pitch and Castle Rise.

The victim was approached by three or four men and hit over the head with a bottle resulting in a small cut to the side of his head.

The unknown offenders are described as males between the ages of 30 and 40.

Witnesses who may have been in the area are asked to call the police on 101 or email and quote incident 51 of 8 October.
