A vehicle was witnessed performing a careless manoeuvre this morning whilst officers and paramedics dealt with a road collision.

The incident happened at around 6.20am today (Friday 18 March) on the A38 between Claypits and Cambridge.

Police were in attendance at the scene of a collision to assist the ambulance service with traffic issues, when a queue of vehicles from the Claypits direction began to build. A white Mercedes then carried out a careless overtake manoeuvre.

Officers are urging anyone who witnessed this incident to contact them. There are potentially several witnesses as many vehicles were overtaken by the Mercedes. The driver of the vehicle in question is also advised to hand themselves into police. Call 101 quoting incident 63 of Friday 18 March.

In light of this incident, motorists are reminded to remain patient in traffic caused by a collision. Performing careless manoeuvres can put themselves, other drivers and staff working at the scene at risk. Drive safely and with caution to avoid causing another accident.
