A man remains in a serious but stable condition after a collision between a van and a pedestrian in Cheltenham yesterday (Tuesday 19 January).

The incident happened outside the Holiday Inn Express on Dunalley Street at the junction of Swindon Road at around 7.20am. 

A 50-year-old man and a silver Citroen Dispatch van were in collision.

The man suffered head and rib injuries and was taken to Southmead hospital in Bristol by air ambulance.

This morning his condition is described as serious but stable.

The road was closed until around 11am while a full collision investigation took place.

Anyone who may have witnessed the collision and hasn't already spoken to officers is asked to contact Gloucestershire Police on 101, quoting incident number 42 of January 19.

A 33-year-old Cheltenham man has been arrested on suspicion of drug driving in connection with the incident and has been bailed to attend Gloucestershire Constabulary's custody suite on 17 February, pending further inquiries.
